    Changes to Permitted Development (PD) rights have now taken effect which the government says will deliver more homes in town centres, the new PD rights will make it easier to turn commercial premises into homes.
    The number of planning applications across all regions in England and Wales increased in May 2021 compared with a year earlier and for the third month in a row, the North East is the leading region in the number submitted, up 67 per cent compared with May 2020. The ‘Northern Powerhouse’ has seen “significant increases in business generation and investment”, not least because it has the “most productive” car plant in Europe.
